Dozens killed and injured in violent Ukrainian shelling targeting the Russian region of Belgorod
Five civilians were killed and 12 wounded in Ukrainian shelling of the town of Rakitnoye in southwestern Russia, the governor of the Belgorod region said on Sunday.
Three children were among the injured, Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the region bordering Ukraine, he wrote on Telegram.
Nine of the injured were taken to hospital, including six in critical condition.
Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in the war that began with Russia’s invasion of its neighbor in February 2022.
