Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that Ukraine had found tens of thousands of foreign components, including Western-made ones, in Russian drones and missiles launched during an airstrike targeting the country over the weekend.

“During the massive joint attack on Ukraine on the night of October 5, Russia used 549 weapons systems with 102,785 foreign-made components,” Zelensky said in a social media post, referring to the attack that occurred early Sunday morning.

Zelensky stated that parts of the drones and missiles intercepted during the attack came from companies in the United States, China, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the Netherlands.

Russia launched approximately 500 drones and more than 50 missiles toward Ukraine that night, killing five people, including in the Lviv region, hundreds of kilometers from the front line, and damaging energy infrastructure.

Zelensky noted that the components found in the downed drones and missiles included transformers, sensors, and microcomputers.

“The microcontrollers for drones are manufactured in Switzerland, while the microcomputers used to control drone flight are manufactured in the UK,” he said, adding that Kyiv is preparing new sanctions against their manufacturers.

He added: “We’ve made proposals to limit supply chain plans… Partners already have detailed data on each company and each product… They know what to target and how to respond”.
