Zelensky is in trouble as the US Senate refuses financial support for Ukraine
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, is facing a new shock after the rejection of a bill in the US Senate to provide aid worth $110.5 billion to Ukraine and Israel.
The bill didn’t receive the necessary support by a small margin, as 51 members rejected it and 49 approved, which prevented it from obtaining the required majority of 60 votes in the 100 Senate members.
The administration of US President Joe Biden failed to approve the project, which included security aid worth $50 billion to Ukraine, in addition to humanitarian and economic support for the government in Kiev.
Before the vote, Zelensky warned of the collapse of Western support for Ukraine in the face of the Russian advance, stressing that the Russian army had significantly increased pressure on the front.
Challenges are piling up for Zelensky as internal pressures and disagreements in the Ukrainian military and political leadership increase.
Corruption, Russian attacks, and lack of support from NATO place a huge burden on the Ukrainian government.
