Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that the United States informed Israel that the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford will leave the region in the coming days.

Earlier, ABC News quoted two US officials as saying that the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier group, which consists of battleships, destroyers and fighters, will return to the port of Virginia in the United States, so that it can be prepared for future deployment.

The aircraft carrier was sent to the eastern Mediterranean following the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The ABC News quoted US officials as confirming that the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford will leave the eastern Mediterranean and return to the United States.

A senior US official said that the aircraft carrier and other surface ships that make up the strike group will return in the coming days to the port of Norfolk, Virginia, as originally scheduled so that they can prepare for future deployments.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the US Navy in the Red Sea received instructions from the Pentagon to transfer two US warships from the Red Sea directly to the eastern Mediterranean.

This comes as the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip continues, while US forces are receiving strikes from the resistance on several fronts.

It’s noteworthy that the United States sent the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford to the eastern Mediterranean, as part of Washington’s response to Hamas attack, on October 7, and after concern about the expansion of the war in Gaza into a regional war, in which it would broadly intervene, mainly Hezbollah.
