Israeli sources have revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t enthusiastic about negotiations with Syria in Paris.

The sources said that Netanyahu isn’t very enthusiastic about these negotiations, in light of Damascus’s adherence to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all the areas it occupied after the fall of the former regime on December 8, 2024, and the removal of the nine military sites and checkpoints it set up in southern Syria.

Netanyahu makes no secret of his rejection of these Syrian demands, which the US administration considers reasonable.

Israeli sources confirmed that these negotiations, which are taking place in Paris, took place after pressure from US President Donald Trump on Israel and Syria, in order to reach an agreement that leads to the stability of the security situation on the border, which may represent a first step towards normalizing relations between the two countries in the future.

The Israeli delegation that met with the Syrian delegation consists of Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Yehael Leiter, and Netanyahu’s military secretary, Roman Goffman, the candidate for the presidency of the Mossad, and the acting head of Israel’s National Security Council, Gil Reich.
