On Sunday, Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Israeli security establishment has decided to close a number of its missions and embassies around the world, in anticipation of a possible retaliatory response from Iran.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, some Israeli diplomatic missions and consulates around the world will close amid fears of retaliation anywhere and anytime by Iran.

The Israeli newspaper confirmed that the Israeli security establishment is preparing for a possible response from Iran, and in addition to enhancing the security of senior officials, some diplomatic missions around the world may remain closed.

Yedioth Ahronoth said, “In Israel, its estimated that Tehran will attempt to act, including through terrorist cells,” pointing out that the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) are currently facing a real crisis: how to establish a secure mechanism for the return of Israelis stranded abroad, estimated to number in the tens of thousands.

Yedioth Ahronoth noted, “In addition to the closure of some embassies and consulates around the world, the security establishment is on high alert, with security measures being tightened for senior Israeli political, security, and intelligence officials”.
