Yahya Sinwar sends a message to the mediators regarding his position on any deal… debunking Israeli claims that he might be killed during recent Israeli air strikes in Gaza
An Israeli source reported, Monday, that the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, contacted the movement’s representatives again and conveyed new messages to them, after contact with him was cut off for a long time.
Channel 12 Israel said, “This message came after contact with him was lost, and there was a possibility that he had been killed in one of the attacks on the Gaza Strip”.
Sources familiar with the negotiations pointed out that Sinwar was far from the contacts because he was convinced that Israel wasn’t interested in the deal”.
Channel 12 indicated that despite the renewal of relations between Sinwar and the mediators, the possibility of reaching a deal is weak at this time, due to Israel’s position on the Philadelphi Corridor.
In addition, there is an understanding that the United States won’t make any proposals until the presidential elections next November, to avoid friction with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Earlier, Western media reported that senior US officials estimate that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has taken hardline positions in recent weeks after nearly a year of fighting in Gaza.
