Xi in military parade speech: China is unstoppable
President Xi Jinping declared that his country is unstoppable, in a speech, Wednesday morning in Beijing at the start of a massive military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
“The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable, and the noble cause of peace and development for humanity will inevitably triumph,” Xi said in a televised speech.
“Today, humanity once again faces a choice between peace or war, dialogue or confrontation,” he added.
The Chinese president called on countries around the world to “eliminate the root cause of war and prevent the recurrence of historical tragedies”.
“Common security can only be ensured when the nations of the world treat each other as equals, live in harmony, and support each other,” he said.
The massive military parade was attended by more than 20 heads of state, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
