X platform removed all verification marks (blue and gray checkmarks) from official accounts affiliated with the Syrian government, including the account of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

This measure included the account of the Presidency of the Republic, in addition to the accounts of the Ministries of Defense, Information, and Foreign Affairs, as well as the account of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Asaad al Sheibani, and the official spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, along with several other accounts linked to the Syrian government.

Meanwhile, the X administration didn’t provide any official explanation for this step, which raised widespread questions among Syrian citizens, who speculated about several possible reasons.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the platform has taken such measures.

It previously restricted the Syrian presidency’s account for a short period and then restored it without providing any explanation.

In a similar vein, some linked this measure to the political positions of billionaire Elon Musk, the platform’s owner, and their alignment with the United States’ vision for the new Syrian leadership, although there has been no official confirmation of this.
