World Bank: The cost of rebuilding Ukraine is around $524 billion

The World Bank estimated that the cost of rebuilding Ukraine will reach about $524 billion, as a result of the war.

This came in a joint assessment issued on Tuesday by the World Bank, the United Nations, the European Commission and the Ukrainian government.

The report stated that the announced figure is equivalent to about 2.8 times Ukraine’s expected GDP for 2024.

The report pointed out that direct damages in Ukraine amounted to $176 billion, stressing that mobilizing the private sector is important for the success of Ukraine’s recovery.

The report indicated that the most affected sectors are housing, transportation, energy, trade, industry and education.

The report stressed that prioritizing investments in recovery and reconstruction will be crucial for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
