Washington will announce an additional $3 billion in military aid to Ukraine in the largest unilateral security support package for Kiev since the start of the Russian invasion
The United States will announce on Wednesday its intention to provide an additional $3 billion in military aid to Ukraine, a US official said, in the largest unilateral security support package for Kiev since the start of the Russian invasion.
This assistance, which can be used to provide Kyiv with weapons and train its forces in addition to other operations, will be officially announced by the White House on Wednesday, that is, on the day Ukraine commemorates its independence from Russia and the six months since the start of the Russian invasion of its territory.
The money will go from the Pentagon’s Security Assistance Fund, and can be used to directly cover war expenses, including the acquisition of weapons and supplies.
The Pentagon fund is separate from the presidential fund that President Joe Biden uses to provide immediate military aid to Ukrainian forces from US military warehouses.
On Friday, the Pentagon announced the latest aid package from the Presidential Fund, worth $775 million, including precision missiles, anti-armor weapons, reconnaissance drones, artillery, and demining equipment.
