President Donald Trump is set to sign new executive orders on Tuesday as US media reported he would abolish the Department of Education, one of his campaign promises.

Trump cannot abolish this department without the approval of Congress, which would be difficult to achieve, however, the American press reported that Trump will take steps to dismantle it from within.

The White House confirmed that Donald Trump is expected to sign a new set of decrees on Tuesday in the Oval Office without revealing their content.

Federal government services are in the crosshairs of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Trump ally Elon Musk, who has announced the closure of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to the Washington Post, DOGE analyzes data from the Department of Education.

During the campaign, Trump repeatedly said he would abolish the Department of Education if re-elected and distribute its funds to the states.

Trump accuses the Education Department of being overfunded and schools of being too progressive.

Last week, he signed executive orders on hot-button issues in education, such as race, gender and campus protests.

Republican billionaire Linda McMahon, known in the world of professional wrestling (WWE), was appointed to head the Department of Education, which was seen as a signal of his intention to abolish it.
