Wall Street Journal: The CIA presents plan for voluntary departure of entire workforce

As the US President Donald Trump seeks to cut costs at federal agencies, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) offered a voluntary departure plan for its entire workforce on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported.
If the reports are true, the move would make it the first agency to join President Donald Trump’s voluntary departure program for federal employees.
The Wall Street Journal quoted an assistant to CIA Director John Ratcliffe as saying that the agency would also freeze the employment of candidates who had received a job offer.
The anonymous source said some of those frozen offers are likely to be rescinded if the applicants don’t have the background needed for the agency’s new goals, which include targeting drug cartels, Trump’s trade war and undermining China, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The move is part of a sweeping overhaul of the US government by Trump, who has vowed to shrink the federal workforce under the guise of efficiency and economy, sending shockwaves through Washington.
