The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, that according to US officials, they currently believe a ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas is unlikely to be reached before the end of President Joe Biden’s term in January,

The Wall Street Journal quoted senior officials in the White House, the State Department and the Pentagon, without naming them.

Washington said earlier that 90% of the agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages had been reached, but gaps remained regarding the Israeli presence in the Philadelphi corridor on Gaza’s border with Egypt and details of the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Israel had submitted to the Biden administration a proposal to secure a safe exit for Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and his family out of Gaza in exchange for reaching an agreement, an offer that is expected to be rejected by Hamas.
