US agencies have wasted billions of dollars on buildings and vehicles in Afghanistan, according to a US government watchdog in a report issued late Monday evening.

The US Special Inspector General at the General Inspectorate for Afghanistan Reconstruction (Cigar) said that the agency had reviewed the capital assets that have been spent since 2008, and concluded that there are at least $ 2.4 billion in assets that have not been used or been abandoned, which have not been used for the intended purpose, or have been destroyed or destroyed.

The funds were intended to build schools, prisons, hotels, hospitals, roads, bridges, or Afghan military installations.

The report notes that US government agencies have funded projects in the war-torn country, with most of those projects being funded by the Pentagon.

John Sopko, the US inspector general for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, says the US government is rapidly spending a lot of money in a country that was too small to absorb it.

In his report to the US Congress, Sopko said, “The fact that many assets have ended up, without being used, destroyed or destroyed, should be a major cause of concern for the agencies that finance these projects”.
