Forbes: The US Air Force is convinced of the failure of the F-35 fighter program
Forbes magazine reported that the US Air Force has reconciled with the failure of the F-35 fighter program, which for a decade was the only attempt to replace the main US fighter, F-16.
In this context, it was reported that the design of the “F-35”, against a background of increased competition, was significantly complicated, which slowed development, increased costs and reduced confidence in the project.
In conclusion, the US Air Force commanders had to accept the fact that they could not replace the F-16s that were time-tested with the same number of F-35s, and the military would not rule out that they would be forced to launch a new program.
“The talk on the part of the US Air Force about the need to create new light fighters is a tacit admission that the F-35 Lightning 2 program has failed,” Forbes says.
The authors assume that the US Air Force, even if it makes such an attempt, is likely to repeat the same scenario, and the new fighter will not replace the “F-16” fighters, and it will again be expensive, unreliable and modest like the “F-35”.
