US Vice President J.D. Vance warned against extremist Islamic groups and emphasized the importance of protecting minorities in light of the recent events on the Syrian coast.

He continued, “What happened to minorities in Syria recently seems very bad, and we’re trying to determine how bad it’s… We’re trying to determine whether what minorities were subjected to in Syria was a limited incident or genocide”.

He added, “We are talking to our allies and doing unannounced things to protect minorities in Syria, such as Christians and Druze”.

Vance noted that Washington won’t send troops to Syria, but there is much that can be done diplomatically and economically to protect minorities, saying, “the United States has many diplomatic and economic tools that can be used to protect minorities there”.

Regarding Iraq, he said, “Our invasion of Iraq led to the destruction of one of the greatest historical Christian communities in the world”.
