US President Donald Trump said talks with Kyiv on a peace plan were moving in a positive direction, noting there were great opportunities of reaching an agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

This came in statements he made to reporters on Sunday, while returning from Florida after spending the weekend.

Trump added that the US and Ukrainian delegations held good talks in Florida on Sunday.

He explained that Ukraine has some difficult little problems, as well as the United States has difficult problems, but he predicted that Russia would also be willing to end the war.

He pointed out that the war in Ukraine has claimed, during the past month alone, 27,000 lives, indicating that work is underway to stop this human bleeding.

Asked if he would give Russia a deadline to respond to the peace deal, Trump said he had “until the end of the war,” adding, “But I hope this war ends”.

US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff is visiting Moscow this week for talks with the Russian side, after meeting with Ukrainian officials on Sunday in Florida to discuss the US peace plan aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

From his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Rustam Umarov, who are participating in the Florida talks, announced that the two sides held very useful and productive talks.

On November 23, the White House announced an updated and revised draft peace plan following talk between the US and Ukrainian delegations to discuss Trump’s plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, without revealing details of the updated plan.

This followed talks in Geneva, between US, Ukrainian and European officials, to discuss Trump’s plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine objected several items in the proposed plan, including Ukraine’s relinquishment of additional territory in the east, and its acceptance of not joining NATO altogether.
