The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Friday, that the death toll after a US air strikes on the pro-Iranian forces west of the Euphrates in the eastern countryside of Deir al Zour more than 22, all of them from the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces and the Iraqi Hezbollah.
They were all killed in US air strike on sites and a shipment of weapons as they entered the Syrian territories from Iraq from a military crossing near the main Qaim crossing in the Albu Kamal area, east of Deir al Zour.
The number of dead is expected to rise due to the wounded, some of them in serious conditions, in addition to the information on other dead.
The bombing, which took place at one o’clock after midnight, Damascus time, completely destroyed 3 trucks of ammunition.
According to the sources of the Syrian Observatory, after the strike, the Iranian forces and pro-operatives deliberately evacuated several sites and headquarters in AlBukamal and relocated to other sites and points for fear of successive attacks.
US President Joe Biden has ordered air strikes on infrastructure sites used by an Iranian-backed armed group in eastern Syria, according to the Pentagon.
“The approval of these strikes came in response to recent attacks against US and coalition personnel in Iraq, and the ongoing threats to these individuals,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
The statement continued, “The strikes specifically destroyed several facilities located at a border control point used by a number of Iranian-backed armed groups, including Iraqi Hezbollah and the troops of Sayyid al Shuhada”.
The strike came after about 14 missiles were fired at an air base in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, where US forces are located.
The attack by armed men killed a civilian contractor and injured two American contractors and a member of the US military.
In turn, Vladimir Jabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation, said that the US strike on Syria was illegal, during which the lands of a sovereign state were bombed.
The Russian official added, “Syria has the full right to do so”.
“What happened is extremely dangerous and could lead to an escalation of the situation in the entire region”.
“Such actions could lead to the outbreak of a major conflict,” he continued.
He explained, “Syria possesses modern weapons, including S-300 air defense missile batteries, and the US must be very careful while committing such acts”.
The US bombing targeted the sites of Iranian-backed forces, and it seems that the United States is not interested in fighting terrorists in Syria, but rather wants to fuel the conflict there, so that it remains there constantly.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also telephoned his Syrian counterpart on Friday, hours after the US air strikes on Iranian-backed militias in eastern Syria.
