Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv doesn’t consider the UN mission a guarantor of his country’s security.

Zelensky’s statements came during a joint press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel in the capital, Kyiv.

Zelensky stated that the US and Ukrainian delegations will meet on March 24 as part of efforts to implement a temporary ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

He added that Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umarov will attend the talks, along with his country’s delegation, which will include officials who can discuss technical issues.

Regarding some reports that the United Nations is a guarantor of peace in Ukraine, Zelensky said, “The United Nations cannot protect Ukraine from war”.

He continued, “We don’t see the United Nations as an alternative to military intervention or security guarantees”.

Zelensky added, “We’ve logical and reasonable relations with UN representatives and with its Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, but the UN cannot be a substitute for security guarantees”.
