Türkiye denied reports about Iran shoot down a US fighter jet with a Turkish system
The Anti-Disinformation Center of the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department has denied the validity of allegations that a US F-15 fighter jet was shot down by a Turkish-made air defense system.
This came in a statement issued by the center on Saturday evening, in which it addressed the allegations reported by some social media accounts.
Türkiye has allegedly provided Iran with advanced air defense systems and anti-drone missiles, and that a US F-15 fighter jet shot down in Iran last Friday was targeted by a Turkish-made shoulder-mounted air defense system.
The Center for Combating Media Disinformation confirmed that these allegations contained in some social media accounts are baseless and do not reflect the truth.
These allegations are nothing but a deliberate psychological war and smear campaigns aimed at undermining Türkiye’s constructive role in resolving regional crises and its efforts to achieve peace.
He explained that Türkiye has a position based on the maintenance of peace and stability, and that these media campaigns, which seek to undermine Türkiye’s internationally recognized diplomatic success, aim to mislead international public opinion.
The statement stressed that such misinformation aimed at manipulating public opinion and upsetting the delicate balance in the region must not be believed.
On Friday, the US military acknowledged shooting down an F-15E fighter jet in Iran.
