Türkiye continues energy exploration at the Somalian shores
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced, Sunday, that its Naval Task Group in Somalia continues to accompany and protect seismic survey activities in Somali waters under agreements concluded between the two countries.
The Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement that within the framework of the bilateral agreements signed between Türkiye and Somalia, seismic survey activities continue in Somalia’s maritime jurisdiction area, under the protection and accompaniment of elements of the Maritime Task Group in Somalia.
The statement pointed out that the group consists of the Turkish warships “TCG Gokova”, “TCG Gediz”, and “TCG Arif Ekmekçi”.
The Turkish ship Reis Oruç arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, late last October, under a memorandum of understanding signed between Türkiye and Somalia last March, to explore, evaluate, develop and produce oil in the Somali land and sea areas.
