Turkish exports to Syria increased by 36.7% in the first quarter of 2025

Türkiye exported $669.661 million to Syria during the first four months of this year, a 36.7% increase.

According to a statement published by the Turkish Southeast Anatolian Exporters Association on Thursday, the country’s exports to Syria during the period from January to April 2025 increased by 36.7% compared to the same period last year.

Turkish exports to Syria reached $490 million in the first four months of 2024, while they jumped to $670 million in the same period in 2025.

Exports in April alone increased by 57.6% compared to the same month last year, reaching $162,109,000.

Commenting on the data in the same statement, Celal Kaddoğlu, Chairman of the Southeast Anatolian Cereal, Pulse, Oilseed and Products Exporters’ Union, welcomed the steps taken by the European Union to lift economic sanctions on Syria, following a similar decision by the United States.

Kaddoğlu, who also serves as head of the Syrian office of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, emphasized that this development presents significant opportunities for the reconstruction of Syria, as well as for Türkiye’s economic and diplomatic role in the region.

He stressed that lifting the sanctions would mark a historic turning point in Syria’s economic recovery process.

He also stressed that the constructive and multi-dimensional diplomacy that Türkiye has pursued from the outset will soon bear fruit.

He added, “We’ll soon see the effects of the opening of trade channels and the increased confidence in markets resulting from the easing of international sanctions”.

He stated that Turkish companies are ready to be natural partners in this process, particularly thanks to their logistical advantages and regional expertise.

“Increasing trade between Türkiye and Syria will also support economic relations and, at the same time, pave the way for stronger diplomatic relations,” according to Kaddoğlu.
