Turk press: What will Turkey do with 80,000 troops in Syria?
The Turkish news website “Turk Press” issued part of a dialogue conducted by the state television channel TRT with a Turkish academic, asking: “After the mobilization of 80 thousand troops, would Turkey backed down from its military operation east of the Euphrates?
According to the website, Professor at Istanbul’s Altenbash University saw his country is serious in its operation east of the Euphrates River in northern Syria, which will inevitably be undone.
The Turkish academic in this context said that “the Turkish action in this regard is not political propaganda, and its objective is purely military, as Turkey has mobilized about 80 thousand troops on the border, and this is historic, and the terrorist groups only surrender their weapons and withdraw”, he said.
He also said that Ankara is considering making the “safe zone 32 km deep as a first stage, extending from Manbij to Qamishli, and will try to manage its military operation in coordination with the United States, Russia and Iran and the forces on the ground”.
