Trump: We don’t need Middle East oil

US President Donald Trump reiterated that his country doesn’t need oil and gas in the Middle East, but stressed that Washington will help its allies.

Trump said in a tweet: “Since in the last few years we have achieved great success in the field of energy”.

Thank you, Mr. President! Very few oil tankers, but we will help our allies”.

Trump had made a similar statement on July 24, stressing that his country doesn’t need to import oil because it has become an exporter, nor does it need to guard the Strait of Hormuz for rich countries for free.

“We get very little oil from the straits”, Trump said on the occasion.

“They said there are no US tankers there, but from China and Japan.

“China imports 65% of oil from there, Japan 25% and other countries get a lot too”.
