Trump wants an Iranian unconditional surrender!
US President Donald Trump said Friday that unconditional surrender to Iran was the only way to end the war, as the Islamic Republic and Lebanon are witnessing the heaviest airstrikes since the start of the US-Israel war a week ago.
The war launched by the United States and Israel with the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei enters its seventh day, igniting the flames across the Middle East from Tehran to Beirut and through Iraq, raising concerns about the global economy, especially in light of the uncertainty over the duration of the conflict.
Earlier on Friday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian hinted that some countries had begun mediation efforts to end the war, Trump asserted in a commentary on Truth Social that there will be no agreement with Iran except unconditional surrender.
The US president said that if the Islamic Republic surrenders, the United States and its allies will work to save Iran from the brink of collapse, and make it stronger economically and more prosperous than ever before, noting that this will require the installation of a great and acceptable leader.
Trump said Thursday that he should be involved in the selection of a successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, rejecting the idea that his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, one of the candidates to succeed his father, could be selected.
After Trump had earlier said the Iranians wanted to negotiate and that he had replied that it was too late, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News on Thursday that Iran isn’t looking for a ceasefire or negotiations with the United States.
