US President Donald Trump on Sunday threatened to destroy Iran, stressing that his warning about Iran’s energy facilities will have very good results, as part of the war waged by Washington and Israel against Iran.

Trump said: “You will soon know what will happen about the warning for power plants in Iran, and the result will be very good”.

“There will be a complete destruction of Iran, and this will work excellently,” he added.

“Iran has been very bad for 47 years, and now it receiving the punishment it deserves,” Trump said.

The remarks come after Trump threatened at dawn on Sunday to strike Iran’s energy facilities starting with the largest one unless Tehran opens the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.

In return, Iran has vowed to respond to any attack, stressing that it will target all energy and information technology infrastructure of the United States and Israel in the region.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump said that the United States had wiped Iran off the map and that he had achieved military objectives from the war on Iran weeks ahead of the expected timeline.

On March 2, Iran announced the restriction of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to attack any ships trying to cross it without coordination, in response to the ongoing US-Israeli aggression.

About 20 million barrels of oil pass through the strait daily, and its closure has caused increased shipping and insurance costs, high oil prices, and sparked global economic concerns.

On Friday, Trump called on countries using the Strait of Hormuz to protect and secure it as necessary, saying the United States doesn’t use it.

This came as the US president in recent days failed to form a broad international coalition to secure navigation in the strait.
