Trump sharply criticize Europe’s leaders
US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized European countries, describing them as “decaying” and run by “weak” leaders, blaming them for failing to control immigration and end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
In an interview with Politico website, Trump expressed “grave concern” about what he called the “bad directions” that Europe is slipping into, stressing that Washington isn’t seeking to bring about radical change on the continent, but accused European leaders of being “obsessed with political correctness” and unable to make decisive decisions.
Trump has sharply criticized the impact of waves of migration from the Middle East and Africa on major European cities such as London and Paris, warning that some countries won’t remain viable if the situation continues unchanged.
Regarding the Ukraine conflict, Trump accused European governments of failing to push the war toward a solution, saying, “They talk a lot and do nothing, and the war goes on endlessly”.
He revealed that he had presented a preliminary version of a peace plan, and that some Ukrainian officials had expressed admiration for it, but that President Volodymyr Zelensky hasn’t yet seen it, warning that Russia is currently in a stronger position.
Despite the intensity of his criticism, Trump has shown clear support for leaders who are close to his political vision, led by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, stressing his readiness to support similar figures despite the opposition of the Europeans.
Trump also attacked the European Commission over the fine imposed on X platform, calling the decision “harsh” and adding that he would make further comment after seeing the full details.
