Trump reveals information about the secret weapon that helped capture Maduro

US President Donald Trump has revealed that a secret electronic jamming weapon played a pivotal role in the US military operation inside Venezuela that resulted in the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, stressing that this technology has completely disrupted the defense capabilities of Venezuelan forces.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump spoke confidently about the weapon, which he described as “Jammer” explaining that it had paralyzed the other side’s military equipment.

“Making their equipment stop working… I am not allowed to reveal its details,” Trump said.

According to Trump, the jammer disabled Venezuela’s weapons systems, allowing US forces to carry out the operation and detain Maduro without local security forces being able to respond.

He said the defenses couldn’t fire any missiles despite having Russian and Chinese systems, adding: “We entered, they tried to operate their systems, but nothing worked… They were ready, but technology let them down”.

On January 3, US forces carried out a military operation in the capital, Caracas, that resulted in Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, being transferred to the United States, where they were later charged in New York courts related to drug-related cases.

Venezuelan authorities said the operation killed at least 100 people, including Venezuelan security personnel and Cubans, while Washington said none of its soldiers were killed during the operation.

US media have highlighted other explanations for Venezuela’s weak defenses.

The New York Times quoted US officials as saying that some of Russia’s sophisticated air defense systems in Venezuela weren’t connected to radars when US helicopters appeared over Caracas.

The report noted that the Venezuelan military has faced difficulties in maintaining this equipment.

Prior to the arrest, US forces had targeted sites believed to house or store Russian Buk-M2 air defense systems, a move that likely contributed to weakening the ability to counter the attack.
