Trump refuses to attend a second debate with Harris
Republican candidate Donald Trump doesn’t want to have a second debate with his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, and explained that it’s too late.
The Republican candidate Donald Trump has refused to hold a second televised debate with his Democratic rival Kamala Harris ahead of the presidential election scheduled for next November.
Harris, in turn, accepted an offer from CNN to participate in a debate on October 23.
Trump said while attending a campaign rally in North Carolina that it was too late for a debate, given that primary voting had already begun.
He added, “I have had two debates and she (Harris) has had one debate, and it’s too late for another debate”.
According to the US media, Trump’s justifications in this regard were rejected, as early voting only begins in a few states if the supposed debate date is taken into account.
On the same context, Politico website reported that the matter applies to the states of Virginia, Minnesota and South Dakota only.
In return, Harris wrote on X that she will gladly accept the presidential debate on October 23, and urged Trump to join her.
The previous debate was held on September 10 in Pennsylvania, and lasted 90 minutes.
Harris made a strong entrance to the stage, quickly moving towards Trump, who appeared to be upset, as if he was being forced to do something he didn’t want to do.
Harris has shown good preparation on key issues, such as the economic development plan, women’s rights and refugees.
In return, Trump repeatedly tried to attack her, describing her as a Marxist, and questioning her racial identity, saying that she didn’t specify whether she was black.
Trump claimed that Harris hates Israel, and that Israel will disappear in two years if she becomes president.
On the other hand, Harris responded to Trump’s accusations by saying, “That’s not true… I support Israel and I’ll continue to support”.
Trump’s false statement caused widespread mockery on the Internet, as he claimed that immigrants were eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio, which was rejected by state authorities.
The US media conducted polls after the debate, which showed that more than 60% of Americans considered Harris’ performance to be the best, while 37% expressed their support for Trump.
