Trump plans to pay $2,000 to every American citizen of tariff revenue
US President Donald Trump has said that at least $2,000 will be paid to each U.S. individual in tariff revenues.
This came in a post on Truth Social on Sunday, regarding the customs duty revenues.
“Everyone will receive a minimum of $2,000 in profits, except for those on high incomes,” Trump added.
US media reported that Trump would need congressional approval before disbursing payments to citizens from customs duty revenues.
According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the payment doesn’t have to be in cash, but can be used for the benefit of citizens through other measures, such as tax breaks.
