Trump orders deployment of two nuclear submarines in response to provocative Russian statements
US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines in response to “very provocative” statements made by a Russian official.
“Based on the extremely provocative statements made by former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev… I’ve ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines to the appropriate areas, in case these stupid and inflammatory statements lead to something more,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Words matter a lot and can often lead to unintended consequences… I hope this isn’t one of those cases,” he added.
Medvedev, currently deputy chairman of the Russian National Security Council, considered in a post on X that Trump’s deadline for Moscow to end the war in Ukraine was a “threat and a step toward war”.
