Trump attacks Zelensky for ignoring the proposed peace plan to end the war between Ukraine and Russia
US President Donald Trump said Sunday he was a little disappointed with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky for not engaging in pushing a peace plan proposal to end the war with Russia.
“I spoke with President Putin and with Ukrainian leaders… Including Zelensky, and I’ve to say that I am a little disappointed because President Zelensky hasn’t yet read the proposal, and that was a few hours ago”.
Days of talks between US and Ukrainian officials that Zelensky participated in by phone ended on Saturday without making any apparent progress, despite the Ukrainian president vowing more talks to reach a real peace.
The talks came after US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, where Moscow rejected parts of the US proposal.
The US plan has undergone several amendments since it was first introduced last month, amid criticism that it is being lenient with Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
