Trump attacks Harris over natural gas and mocks the wind turbines in Germany

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump mocked wind turbines in Germany at a campaign event.
“They put wind turbines up all over the place, and the wind didn’t blow very hard… If they had continued that, Germany would be bankrupt by now,” Trump said in a conversation with citizens in the US state of Florida, adding that this was one of the main reasons Angela Merkel was no longer chancellor.
Trump had previously made it clear that he fully supports the extraction of natural gas through the controversial hydraulic fracturing technique, claiming that his opponent Kamala Harris and the Democrats are against it, saying, “They’re against everything underground… That’s what Germany went through… They almost destroyed themselves”.
Kamala Harris has previously expressed opposition to fracking, but now says, “I won’t ban fracking,” Trump has repeatedly called that statement “not credible,” fracking is a key campaign swing state in Pennsylvania, which has a strong middle class.
Trump also sharply criticized large solar farms, saying in Florida, “Everything is made of steel and glass and wire, it looks like hell… You can see the rabbits that get stuck in it… It’s terrible for the environmentalists,” adding that he initially supports solar but prefers smaller rooftop applications.
The former US president frequently causes a stir with false statements, with Trump regularly claiming that after a failed move away from fossil fuels, Germany began building a new coal-fired power plant every week.
The US election campaign has reached its final stage, with elections starting in two weeks, on November 5.
