US President Donald Trump assumed his relationship with billionaire Elon Musk was over.

Western media reported on Saturday evening that President Trump had ended his relationship with Musk, warning him that he would face “very severe consequences” if he funded Democratic candidates.

Trump said that, “I assume my relationship with the tech billionaire is over after their recent dispute on social media over the Republican spending bill”.

Trump stressed that if he does so, he will have to face the consequences, but he refused to reveal what those consequences would be, explaining that “they will be severe”.

Trump also said that he doesn’t want to repair his relationship with Musk after the dispute erupted publicly between them earlier this week.

It’s noteworthy that a public dispute recently erupted between Trump and Musk, against the backdrop of a budget proposal proposed by the US president.

Musk described it in a post on X last Tuesday, calling for “killing the bill”.

For his part, Trump said that he was disappointed in Musk, despite “everything he has done for him,” while the latter responded that Trump wouldn’t have become president without his support, noting that he helped Republicans control both houses of Congress.

Following this dispute, shares of Tesla, owned by Musk, fell 14% in trading on Thursday, before rising about 5% at the opening of trading on Friday, partially offsetting Musk’s losses.
