US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the 2026 G20 summit will be held in Miami, Florida, in the southeastern United States, later specifying that it will be held at his Trump National Doral Miami resort.

The US president also confirmed that he won’t attend the G20 summit scheduled for November in South Africa, which he accuses of persecuting whites.

He explained that his vice president, J. D. Vance, will represent the United States at the summit, which brings together the heads of state and government of the G20 member states.

“I am pleased to announce that the 2026 G20 Summit… will be held in one of our nation’s greatest cities, beautiful Miami, Florida,” Trump said, stressing, “We won’t make any money from it at all,” considering the chosen location “the best place for the summit”.

During his first term (2017-2021), Trump wanted to host the G7 summit at this location, but backed down in the face of corruption allegations.

Trump said that, “It would be great… as the property is close to the airport and each country will have its own building”.

In this context, Trump indicated that he would be pleased to have Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping participate in the summit.
