Trump: America has become a “third world country”

US President Donald Trump stated that the United States has become “like a third world country,” while continuing to repeat his allegations that are not based on evidence about fraud in the US presidential elections, and refuses to admit defeat before the democratic president-elect Joe Biden.

“The elections were rigged… you look at the different states, and you find that the elections were completely rigged,” Trump said in a brief speech to reporters in the Oval Office of the White House, adding: “It is a shame for our country… it is like a third world country”.

Trump’s allegations have been rejected by state officials, including members of his Republican party, some of whom are now being harassed.

Among Trump’s unsupported allegations is that the voting machines were manipulated to divert votes against him.

Meanwhile, President-elect Joe Biden is pushing ahead with the transition process, announcing the names of the officials he has chosen to fill key positions in his administration.

Biden is due to take office in the afternoon of January 20, after all Trump’s attempts to change the election result were unsuccessful.
