Times of Israel: The commander of the Israeli elite Ghost unit was killed

The commander of on of Israeli army elite unit, known as the Israeli “Ghost” unit, Colonel Roy Levy, was killed during clashes with Hamas members, Saturday.
The Times of Israel newspaper quoted a statement issued by the Israeli army, in which it confirmed that the commander of the Special Ghost Unit, Colonel Roy Levy, was killed during battles with Hamas fighters in the Israeli region of Re’im.
The statement said, “The head of the multi-dimensional elite unit, also known as the “Ghost” unit, Colonel Roy Levy, was killed yesterday (Saturday), while his forces were fighting with Hamas terrorists in the southern Re’im residences”.
The statement noted that “the Ghost unit was the first to fight battles in the region to rescue citizens trapped in their homes”.
According to Israeli Channel 13, at least 600 soldiers and civilians were killed in a surprise attack on Israel, and more than 2,000 others were injured”.
The Israeli army stated in a statement that Hamas has fired more than 3,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip towards the Israeli interior, since Saturday morning, at a time when the movement’s members penetrated more than 20 settlements in southern Israel as well.
On Saturday morning, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, which included firing thousands of rockets into southern and central Israel, and hundreds of militants infiltrated from the Gaza Strip into settlements in the southern region.
Hamas was able to capture unknown number of Israelis, including soldiers and officers, and return them to the Gaza Strip.
