Three African countries deny discussions with Israel to receive Palestinians refugees from Gaza
Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda denied what was reported by Israeli media, regarding the existence of discussions between them and the Israeli occupation authorities to displace a number of residents of the Gaza Strip there.
In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and government spokesman in Chad, Abd al Rahman Gholamallah, “Chad confirmed the recent allegations broadcast by the Israeli I24 channel regarding the existence of Israeli-Chadian talks with the aim of receiving thousands of Palestinians from Gaza”.
The statement added, “Chad affirmed that its commitment to the basic principles of international law prohibits any approval or participation in the displacement of people from Gaza, which constitutes a violation of these rights”.
“Chad reiterated that it has always supported a ceasefire and guaranteeing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination in accordance with international standards,” statement concluded.
For its part, the Democratic Republic of the Congo denied the allegations made by the Israeli media, and the country’s government spokesman, Patrick Muyaya, said, “There are no talks, discussions, or initiatives about Congo accepting Palestinian refugees on its territory”.
The Rwandan Foreign Ministry considered the news circulating in the Israeli media are completely false, adding that there are no discussions have taken place on this matter now or in the past, and false information must be ignored.
Israeli media outlets, including the Time of Israel news website, reported that Israeli officials were holding secret talks with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, and Rwanda to receive Palestinians from Gaza, as part of its plan for the “voluntary” displacement of the residents of the Strip.
According to the Time of Israel news website, the Israel will provide these African countries with an aid package, under which any Palestinian who decides to immigrate there will receive a generous financial grant, in addition to extensive aid to the receiving country, including military aid.
