The Yemeni “Ansar Allah” group announced, on Monday, targeting an Israeli ship in the Arabian Sea, and US warships in the Red Sea, with missiles and drones.

The group’s military spokesman, Yahya Saree said, “The Yemeni naval forces (affiliated with the group) carried out a targeting operation against an Israeli ship, MSC SKY, in the Arabian Sea”.

He added, “The operation was carried out with a number of appropriate naval missiles, and the hit was accurate and direct”.

He explained that targeting the Israeli ship came hours after carrying out a qualitative operation with a number of ballistic missiles and drones on a number of US warships in the Red Sea.

Yahya Saree affirmed, “Continuing to prevent Israeli navigation or navigation heading to the ports of occupied Palestine until the aggression is stopped and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted”.

He vowed to carry out more military operations in the Red and Arab seas, “against all hostile targets, in defense of Yemen and in support of Palestine”.

The Houthis has been targeting cargo ships belonging to or linked to Israel in the Red Sea with missiles and drones, as part of showing solidarity with Gaza, which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support.

Since the beginning of this year, a US-led coalition has launched raids that it says target “Houthi sites” in various regions of Yemen, in response to their attacks in the Red Sea, which was met with a response from the group from time to time.

With the intervention of Washington and London and the tensions taking a noticeable escalation last January, the Houthi group announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.

Earlier, the British Maritime Security Agency, reported on Monday that an attack targeted a cargo ship flying the Liberian flag off the coast of Yemen, noting that it was listed as “belongs to Israel”.

The agency explained that the targeting occurred about 91 nautical miles southeast of Aden in Yemen, adding that according to what was reported, the ship was hit and sent a distress signal.

The British agency added, “It hasn’t been confirmed whether the ship was directly affected or was damaged by nearby explosions,” noting that the ship “was on its way from Singapore to Djibouti”.

The ship was listed “as being managed by the Israeli company ZIM Shipping Services,” but added at the same time that “this may have been an old listing, as the ship was not listed in other sources”.
