The Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky tried to convince his counterpart Biden and Congress that he is capable of Ukraine’s complete victory over Russia, while US officials expressed deep doubts about the validity of Zelensky’s words.
The Washington Post said on Friday: “Zelensky mocked his brief meetings with Biden and congressional lawmakers to say that Ukraine is capable of an immediate victory in the war, while US officials said that this is highly unlikely”.
The Washington Post article noted that Zelensky’s visit to Washington was also “an attempt to pad himself up with the support of skeptical lawmakers and other Americans before the start of the long winter battles”.
It’s worth noting that the crew of the American military plane that took Zelensky to the United States did not know until the last moment that the Ukrainian president was on board.
