The Syrian President reveals the cost of rebuilding the Syrian economy after the war

Syrian President Bashar Al Assad received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov and discussed with him Moscow’s contribution to the reconstruction of the Syrian economy in the post-war phase.
The Russian deputy prime minister’s office confirmed that Borisov discussed with Assad political issues as well as Russia’s participation in removing the effects of war, the return of peaceful life and cooperation in the fields of industry, medicine, energy and others.
According to Assad, the reconstruction of Syria’s economy will cost from 250 to 400 billion US dollars.
For his part, Borisov stressed that the slowdown in the reconstruction of the Syrian economy could lead to serious repercussions, including the revitalization of terrorist organizations, adding that it would be easier for extremists to recruit new elements among homeless citizens who have no job to support their families.
The Russian official pointed to the need to act quickly based on the most effective planning and take advantage of the opportunities available, in addition to the establishment of financial and economic mechanisms able to play its role under the Western sanctions imposed on Damascus.
