The Syrian army repels rebels in the Jabal Zain al Abidin area in Hama
According to field source, the battle of Jabal Zein al Abidin in Hama was the largest of its kind so far between the Syrian army and armed groups, as the militants suffered heavy casualties, forcing those who remained to withdraw.
The source explained that the attack launched by these groups on the army positions was the most violent since the start of the operations, as they used drones and various types of weapons, but it ended in a major failure for the militants.
Battles continued for long hours until dawn on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of dozens of militants, and that the impact of this battle will reverberate on other fronts in Hama province in the coming hours.
According to information, the rebels were led by the so-called, “Asa’ib al Humr,” the military wing of al Qaeda in Syria, led by Abu al Yaqzan al Masri, which was the main element in the attack.
In the same context, the Syrian army succeeded in repelling the attack after a tight ambush in Jabal Zain al Abidin, which led to heavy losses in lives and equipment.
After the battle, relative calm returned to the area with the withdrawal of the remaining groups.
The field source reported that the number of rebels killed in this ambush exceeded 300.
On the other hand, the London based, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the battle of Jabal Zain al Abidin ended with the victory of the Syrian army.
