The so called “Merkava Hunter” Russian 9P148 Konkurs (BRDM-2 Spandrel) is back to Syrian battlefield

The Syrian army owns the so called “tank hunter” which is an armored vehicle equipped with Konkurs anti-armor missiles called 9P148/ BRDM-2 Spandrel.

This armored vehicle was allocated to combat the Israeli Magash, Sho’t and the Merkava tanks series.

The Syrian army obtained this type of armored vehicle on the eighties of the last century.

It was not used by the Syrian army during the war against terrorist armed groups while they were still in the storage depots of military vehicles.

Finally, “Israeli tank hunter” was spotted within the ranks of the Syrian army, according to Murdovia Russian news agency.

According to military experts, the decision to call the “Merkava Hunter” to serve in the Syrian army was issued earlier when the combat operations were the most, and there was a need for high-precision weapons such as the missile, “Konkurs” up to a range of 4000 meters, which can destroy what hinders the movement of troops.

Currently the fighting fronts in Syria are almost is quiet, so the “tank hunters” remain idle, but these armored vehicles remain ready to used when it necessary.
