The Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) handed over to the international coalition forces a list of the names of the military division commanders scheduled to be integrated with their divisions into the Syrian army, while sources close to the Kurdish organization confirmed its demand for leadership positions in the Syrian Ministry of Defense as a condition for the success of the integration process.

Kurdish media reported that the SDF had compiled a list of names of its leaders who participated in the fight against ISIS, and identified three military divisions that would be integrated into the Syrian army.

The US-led international coalition had submitted a list of names of 70 military commanders, in addition to the commanders of the three divisions that would be integrated into the Syrian army.

The information indicated that one of these brigades would be deployed in the Syrian north eastern region, a second in the Euphrates region, and a third in Deir al Zour.

It also included proposals for three officers to lead three special brigades under the supervision of the General Staff, allocating 30% of leadership positions within the General Staff to SDF commanders, and assigning one of the brigades the task of counterterrorism in coordination with the International Coalition forces across various Syrian territories.

Meanwhile, the SDF is pushing for taking over leading military positions, based on its experience as a military institution that played a role in fighting ISIS and in protecting the areas liberated from the Assad regime in eastern and northern Syria… It also seeks an integration in which it is a partner in military decision-making, in a way that guarantees and preserves the rights of Kurdish citizens.

The number of members of the Syria Democratic Forces and the security forces affiliated with the Self-Administration is estimated at more than one hundred thousand fighters, most of whom are from the Arab tribes, especially in the governorates of Raqqa and Deir al Zour.

It’s worth noting that the commander of the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, announced two weeks ago that a preliminary agreement had been reached with the transitional authorities regarding the mechanism for integrating his forces into the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

He pointed to ongoing talks between the two sides in Damascus, aimed at implementing the terms of the March 10, 2025 Agreement, which is expected to be finalized before the end of this year, particularly those related to integrating the civilian and military institutions of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration into national institutions.

However, numerous obstacles and concerns hinder the negotiations regarding implementation mechanisms, and Washington, along with Arab and regional states, is exerting pressure to implement the agreement.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Deir al Zour Military Council held an expanded meeting with brigade commanders, military councils, and Women’s Protection Units to discuss the latest security developments in the region and ways to confront ISIS, and discussed plans to enhance stability and raise combat readiness.

According to the official website of the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), the attendees decided to raise the efficiency of fighters and military leaders, launch advanced training and qualification programs to raise the combat and tactical level of fighters, establish new mechanisms to enhance intelligence work and information exchange between brigades, military councils, and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), in addition to developing leadership and administrative capabilities within the military councils to ensure higher readiness in the face of security challenges, as well as strengthening coordination between the military councils to secure supply lines, operations, and infrastructure protection… The fight against ISIS remains the top priority for the Military Council Forces.
