The results showed that 77.92% voted in favor of the constitutional amendments after sorting out 100% of the protocols, while 21.37% voted against the amendments.

Voting took place from June 25 to July 1, as polling stations in all Russian regions opened their doors from eight in the morning until eight in the evening.

The constitutional amendments will take effect from the day the poll results are officially announced.

The amendments include a redistribution of powers between the president, prime minister, and parliament, expanding the functions of the State Council, preventing senior government officials from holding foreign citizenship and owning bank accounts in foreign banks, expanding the list of conditions that the presidential candidate must meet, as well as granting ex-presidents immunity from prosecution.

The amendments also require the inclusion of mentioning “the Lord god” in the constitution, fixing children as a main priority of state policy, ensuring minimum wages for Russian citizens at a value no less than enough level to live in the country, and establishing Russia’s status as the heir of the former Soviet Union in international agreements and organizations, in addition to Non-implementation of the decisions of international bodies that contradict the provisions of the Russian Constitution.

The new constitutional amendments include an article that provides for preventing the head of state from assuming power for more than two states in a row, but that with another amendment submitted last March by the deputy “United Russia” in the State Duma, Valentina Tereshkova, and requires “zeroing” the number of states The current president Vladimir Putin, if the new bill is adopted, which would allow Putin to run for the presidential elections in 2024 and 2030.
