Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Saturday accused Western countries of waging direct war against Russia in Ukraine.

“You can call it whatever you want, but they are fighting us, they are fighting us directly… We call it a hybrid war, but that doesn’t change the reality,” Lavrov said on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

During an extensive press conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Lavrov was asked about the United States’ involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

He said, “They’re fighting against us de facto by using the hands and bodies of the Ukrainians”.

Lavrov add, “I think everyone here who cares about the situation in Ukraine knows very well that the Americans, the British and others are fighting first by providing more weapons”.

The United States and the European countries that have been supplying Kiev with weapons systems since the Russian invasion in February 2022 confirm that they aren’t waging a war against Moscow, but are helping Ukraine defend itself.

The Russian Foreign Minister was speaking on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky personally attended, calling on the international community for more support.

Zelensky proposed holding a peace summit to discuss his plan aimed at ending the war.

Lavrov stressed that this settlement proposal is absolutely unworkable, impossible to implement and unrealistic.

The Russian Foreign Minister also announced that the United States is doing its utmost to prevent the Palestinians from establishing the state they were promised.
