The president-elect is focusing his efforts to put together the new White House team, and Trump is moving in every direction to win a legal battle that will change the election outcome

President-elect Joe Biden is focusing his efforts on Tuesday, on forming his core staff in the White House, as President Donald Trump continues his legal battle to change the election result in his favor despite growing signs of his weak position.

A source familiar with the developments said that a number of senior Biden campaign workers are discussing their roles in the transitional period and the new administration that takes office on January 20, and that filling some of these roles may be announced on Tuesday.

The source added that US Representative Cedric Richmond, who was a co-chair of Biden’s campaign and the former head of the black community in Congress, is expected to join the administration in a senior position, as well as Steve Ricchetti, who was a close adviser to Biden for a long time.

That would leave Richmond’s seat in Congress for Louisiana vacant.

Media reported that Jane O’Malley Dillon, who early this year joined Biden’s team as campaign manager, is expected to be named deputy chief of staff at the White House.

She is the first woman to lead a successful Democrat campaign to win the White House.

None of these people responded to requests for comment, and a Biden spokesman declined to comment.

Biden, the Democrat, is also expected to receive a report from his advisers on the dangers to national security.

Trump, who did not accept defeat in the elections that took place two weeks ago, prevented Biden from accessing the secret intelligence reports that are usually presented to the successful candidate in the elections during the transitional period.

In a sign of the national security challenges Biden will inherit, Reuters published a report on Monday evening in which it said that Trump last week asked to discuss options for attacking Iran’s main nuclear site, but ultimately decided to backtrack on the dangerous move.

On the other hand, the Republican Trump moves his faltering efforts to nullify Biden’s victory to a federal court in Pennsylvania, where any further legal setback is likely to eliminate the distant possibilities of achieving his desired goal.

Judge Matthew Bran will hear the arguments in a lawsuit brought by the Trump campaign on Nov.9 requesting that the state’s top election official be barred from declaring Biden winning.

Trump’s campaign centers on a claim that voters were allowed to amend rejected ballot papers due to technical errors such as the lack of a “confidentiality envelope”.

Three other lawyers representing the Trump campaign asked to withdraw from the lawsuit on Monday after a prominent regional law firm withdrew from the lawsuit last week.

A legal adviser to Trump described the last-minute changes as “routine”.

So far, fiasco has been the fate of Trump’s angry effort to push the courts to cancel the count results or delay the announcement of the results in key states.

On Monday, the Wisconsin Election Commission said a recount would cost about $ 7.9 million, a sum the Trump campaign would have to pay upfront if it requests a recount.

On social media, Trump remained anger and stubbornness, while prominent Republicans in Congress and elsewhere unofficially emphasized that Biden should be considered president-elect.

On Monday, Biden called on Trump again to cooperate in the transfer of power, saying it was about people’s lives due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, he insisted that Trump’s refusal to concede defeat did not hamper his efforts in the transition period.

“I find this more embarrassing for the country than weakening my ability to start work,” he added.
