The Netherlands intends to deliver 42 US F16 fighter jets to Ukraine and Greece offers to take part in training Ukrainian pilots

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced, on Sunday, the Netherlands’ intention to deliver 42 F16 fighter jets to his country.

Zelensky who is currently on a visit to the Netherlands, said, “Today, we have taken another step to strengthen Ukraine’s air shield”.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and I have reached an agreement on the number of F16s that will be transferred to Ukraine once their pilots and engineers complete training.

Zelensky said that Kiev will receive 42 F16s from the Netherlands, saying, “This’s only the beginning, as he pointed out that the fighter jets will be used to “remove Russian terrorists” from Ukrainian cities and towns.

On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced during an official visit to Greece that Athens had offered to train Ukrainian pilots on F16 fighter jets.

Zelensky said that Greece will take part in training Ukrainian pilots on the F16 fighter jets, as he thanks Athens this offer.

Last Friday, Kiev welcomed the United States’ decision to allow Denmark and the Netherlands to provide it with these fighters once their pilots complete training on how to use them.

The training is scheduled to start this month with the participation of 11 countries, and officials hope to have the pilots ready by the beginning of next year.

Later, Zelensky will participate in an informal dinner hosted by Mitsotakis with the participation of the leaders of the Balkan countries, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

The Ukrainian president concludes in Athens a European tour that also took him to Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark.
