The Maritime Security Belt naval exercises between Russia, China and Iran begins

The Iranian Navy announced the start of naval exercises with the participation of Iran, Russia and China in the northern Indian Ocean.

The naval forces said that the joint maneuvers are called “The Maritime Security Belt” and will continue for 5 days.

For its part, the Chinese Ministry of Defense issued a statement, Wednesday, announcing the launch of a joint naval exercise with Iran and Russia in the Sea of ​​Oman, south of Iran, which will last for five days.

According to the statement of the Chinese Ministry of Defense, the Russian, Chinese and Iranian armed forces agreed to hold a joint naval exercise titled “Maritime Security Belt 2023” from March 15 to 19 in the Sea of ​​Oman.

The statement stated that the joint maneuver also took place in 2019 and 2022.

The Chinese missile destroyer “Nanning” is taking part in these exercises.

According to the statement, this joint exercise contributes to developing cooperation between the naval forces of the participating countries and enhancing joint readiness to ensure maritime security and consolidate regional peace and stability.

The three countries previously conducted the naval exercises, called the “Maritime Security Belt”, in December 2019, which lasted for four days, as the same naval exercises were repeated last year.
